Das Akronym GIF steht für Graphics Interchange Format und bezeichnet ein Grafikformat, das Bilder meist in einfachen Animationen darstellt – wie ein sehr kurzes Video. GIFs erlauben eine verlustfreie Datenkomprimierung der Bilder und können an ihrer Dateiendung ".gif" erkannt werden.
